Honey has been used from the age of immemorial in traditional medicine. It was used to treat wounds, ulcers, throat, sunburn, eyes, and gut, etc. Thus, honey is gradually becoming part of modern medication derived from folk-medicine. In the traditional sense, honey was used for wound dressing, but with the advent of antibiotics, this was decreased.
With the epidemic of antibiotic resistance bacteria, again honey has an excellent potency to be our savior in this hour of need. In addition, honey has antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory action.
